Twenty percent of the population sneezes when exposed to bright light. Look for nephropathic cystinosis.

Autosomal Dominant Compelling Helioophthalmic Outburst Syndrome; Photic Sneeze Reflex; Peroutka Sneeze Reflex.

Incidence unknown. The syndrome probably is unrecognized in many individuals. May affect up to 20% of the Swedish population. Achoo syndrome is transmitted as an autosomal dominant trait.

May be a complication of slitlamp examination. Abnormal reflex sneezing secondary to bright light. May be associated with nephropathic cystinosis thought to be caused by crystal deposition in the cornea.

No known specific implications with this condition.
