Preface

We are honored to present this abridged version (aka “The Handbook”) of Morgan & Mikhail’s Clinical Anesthesiology 7th edition textbook, edited by Drs. Butterworth, Mackey, and Wasnick. We drew upon the original content of the larger textbook as the basis for this handbook and sought to retain all the essential information needed by anesthesia practitioners. We aimed to provide condensed, practical content relevant to clinical anesthesiology practice, covering topics within preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care. While we have retained many tables and figures, please feel free to refer to the larger textbook for additional content we could not include here. We have bolded important key concepts throughout the handbook for ease of reference.

Whether you are an early learner or an experienced practitioner, we hope that you will find this first edition of the handbook useful in daily practice.
