Propofol is often used as an induction agent for anesthesia.  It often causes hypotension because it decreases the patient’s systemic vascular resistance.  Some mild reflex tachycardia may occur because of this drop in blood pressure, especially in healthy patients but hypotension is the most common hemodynamic change.
